EAA Pilots Take Kids Flying for Free
EAA member and pilot Mike Abel with two Young Eagles after their flight
Thanks to our local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1073 volunteers, children can experience a life-altering event, the thrill of flight! Children ages 8-17 need to bring a parent or guardian to sign them up at the EAA building at the airport on Saturday, July 8 for a flight on the next day, Sunday, July 9.
Each new Young Eagle receives a logbook with his/her flight entered into it and a Young Eagle Certificate, as these two youngsters are proudly displaying after their ride.
Last year, EAA Chapter 1073 pilots gave free airplane rides to over 100 kids the day after the 2016 air show, and they have graciously offered to keep this tradition alive for 2017!
These flights are given free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of chapter volunteers. EAA Chapter 1073 pilots have flown over 3,300 Young Eagles since the program started.
