Brief History of the Truckee Tahoe AirShow

From 1973 to 1996, Truckee’s skies came alive with hair-raising airplane performances at the annual Truckee Tahoe Air Show. Once a one- or two-day event, the air show ran for 23 consecutive years with admission and parking fees put on solely by volunteers.

The Truckee Tahoe Air Show & Family Festival returned in 2012 with an estimated attendance of over 15,000. Building upon the success of the 2012 event, the 2013 Truckee Tahoe event featured an actual air show with world-renowned aerobatic performers soaring and swirling their planes in the air.

The 2014 Truckee Tahoe Air Show & Family Festival featured “Women in Aviation.”
2015 was a “Salute to Veterans” on Saturday, July 11, 2015.
For 2016, The Truckee Tahoe Air Show & Family Festival featured Space, Science & Beyond ~ An Exploration into STEM.

This Air Show is a not-for-profit event.

The structural organization of the nonprofit Truckee Tahoe Air Show & Family Festival (TTAS&FF) offers three local non-profit organizations a new and creative way to raise money for local youth organizations, scholarships and programs. These groups are the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) local Chapter 1073, KidZone Museum and the Truckee Optimist Club. The 2017 TTAS&FF fundraising event is a gift to Truckee North Tahoe community from the Truckee Tahoe Airport District. All proceeds raised through sponsorships, vendor costs, VIP Hospitality Tent tickets, and much more, go directly to local youth programs.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Truckee Tahoe Air Show & Family Festival is to provide a free interactive, educational and fun-filled family-oriented aviation event for the Truckee/North Tahoe region, with all proceeds going to local youth and family programs.
